“Anahata” is the oldest Iyengar yoga school in Riga, celebrating its 20th anniversary in April 2024. We are known for our long-standing traditions, in-depth experience, and respect for authentic yoga practice.
Our teachers are highly qualified and certified—each has completed at least a three-year training program to earn the internationally recognized Level 1 (L1) certification of Iyengar yoga. They regularly deepen their knowledge through seminars, masterclasses, and continue training toward higher certification levels, ensuring a high-quality and safe yoga experience for everyone.
“Anahata” welcomes both beginners and experienced practitioners. We offer in-person classes in Riga, as well as hybrid classes with the option to join online. We regularly host themed workshops, group practices, seminars, pranayama sessions, and retreats—offering opportunities to deepen your understanding of yoga and yourself.
Classes are held in Latvian, with instructions available in English and Russian if needed.
We are located in the center of Riga: Tērbatas Street 49/51-10, 4th floor.
All necessary equipment for practice is available at the studio
After the class you will go home energised,
yet calm and balanced. Gradually, the range of movement will increase that you need for everyday life. Your posture and breathing will improve, which will in time heal your whole body. Your mental horizon and psychological resilience will expand. There will be joy in every day and moment.
Start practicing with us!
We offer two types of online classes – online-only classes and hybrid classes.
Online classes take place exclusively online via Zoom, with the teacher leading the session alone in the studio.
Hybrid classes are held both in-person and online at the same time – the teacher conducts the class in the studio while participants can also join live via Zoom.
If you’d like to practice with us online, you will need some yoga equipment: a mat, two blocks, three blankets, a yoga strap, and a bolster. Occasionally, we also use a wall and a yoga chair during classes.
Yoga props are available for purchase at our studio.

I have been practising yoga since 1993.
Since 2002 I have been teaching Ayengaryoga at the yoga school “Anahata”.
During these years my personal yoga practice has continued and I have learnt yoga therapy.
I am a mentor for new yoga teachers and also work as an examiner for the ayengar yoga certification.

Accuracy and alignment in every asana
Precise asana sequence
Time from entering, settling and exiting the asana
The Iyengar method has become famous for this very possibility – to adapt the asana or posture to the individual’s body and health condition. The classes use a variety of aids – blankets, straps, blocks, bolsters, plates, etc. Thus, asana gives the best possible effect without risking health, resulting in increased physical strength, flexibility, endurance and sense of balance. In addition, the aids play an invaluable role in the relaxation postures, which calm and organise the mind, while restoring strength and energy.
Regular yoga practice affects people on a physiological, mental and psychological level.Â
The Iyengar yoga method is respected and practised in many countries around the world. More about B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga:Â

Yoga classes can be accessed remotely via Zoom. There are Zoom-only classes and hybrid classes that take place at the yoga school, which you can log in and do at your own convenience at home.
The practice of asanas (exercises) stretches the body, loosens and trains muscles and joints from the very first class. The body feels free, the chest opens, breathing becomes smoother, deeper and more conscious. Standing, sitting, inverted and twisted asanas are learnt. Starting with simple standing asanas, one gradually gets to know one’s own body and its possibilities. Props are used to ensure the highest quality of practice.
Beginners are our heros!Â
Both easier and more difficult asanas are practised. Suitable for beginners who have been practising yoga for a while, as well as for practitioners who want a slightly lighter workload. When the body and breathing change, so does the mind. Our attention during practice includes all parts of the body; we feel how they work, so the mind becomes focused and calm.
The practice of yoga is a journey that begins in the body and leads to the soul!
